Community Building Partnership Grants Information Evening

Open to any community groups interested in applying for funding.

 

The Community Building Partnership Program is designed to support and a vibrant, sustainable and inclusive community by the enhancement or construction of community infrastructure.

There is a pool of $200,000 available for projects in the Newtown electorate.  You must be a not-for-profit, incorporated group.  Projects eligible for funding are:

  • Construction of new facilities;
  • Repair or upgrade to existing facilities; and/or
  • Purchase of capital equipment with a life expectancy of 15+ years that delivers new or enhanced community services.

Successful grant applications from 2014 included:

  • Centre fitout for the Asylum Seekers Centre, Newtown
  • Installation of a hearing loop at St Luke’s Church, Enmore
  • Creating a natural outdoor children’s playspace at the Greek Orthodox Community Children’s service in Petersham
  • Improved disability Access at ACON, Surry Hills
  • Maritime training at Tribal Warrior, Redfern

Most successful grants from 2014 were for amounts of between $4000 and $25,000.

How to apply

  • Applications are now open for incorporated not-for-profit organisations in the Newtown electorate
  • Applications can only be made online at communitybuildingpartnership.nsw.gov.au
  • Applications close Friday 7th August  2015.  Late applications will not be received.
  • Successful applications will be announced December 2015

Program criteria:

  1. The project develops a vibrant, sustainable and inclusive community by enhancement or construction of community infrastructure that is pivotal to local community members and support activities and services needed by local communities.
  2. Projects which encourage participation in activities or services needed by a broad section of the community and which promote inclusion by disadvantaged sections of the community.
  3. Projects which provide value for money by leveraging other resources to deliver the community infrastructure.
  4. Projects that will create employment during the construction and/or ongoing employment, or allow for the activity or service delivery to continue.
  5. The capacity and experience of the organisation to deliver the project.

Assessment:

Applications will be assessed by the Member for Newtown, and an Independent Review Panel. Applications are assessed against all five criteria and forwarded to the Premier for final approval.
