Today in NSW Parliament, during a debate on public housing, the National’s Member for Myall Lakes Stephen Bromhead implied The Greens were “a lot like Pauline Hanson and the One Nation Party”.
Member for Newtown Jenny Leong MP says that the comparison was nothing short of insulting.
“As someone who was personally impacted by the comments of Pauline Hanson all those years ago when she said “I believe we are in danger of being swamped by Asians” I am seriously offended by this,” she said.
“As someone who is proudly a member of a party that rejects the racism and fear that One Nation and Pauline Hanson are still whipping up in our society, I find the implication insulting.
“The racist and discriminatory views of Pauline Hanson and One Nation are unacceptable. If anyone thinks there are any similarities between me and Pauline Hanson I would ask them to please explain,” she said.
