Greens NSW Submission to the Draft Strata Regulation

The NSW Greens have made a submission on the draft strata regulation released by the NSW Government. The regulation gives detail to the Strata Schemes Development Act 2015 and Strata Schemes Management Act 2015.

While the Greens welcomed the announcement that NSW strata laws would be reformed and modernised with a full review of the existing strata law framework in 2015, we did not support many of the measures included in the Government bills, most notably the provisions dealing with the collective sale or redevelopment of a strata scheme that allowed the collective sale of a strata scheme with the support of just 75% of owners. However the Government joined forces with the CDP and the Shooters’ Party to pass the measures.

Our submission to the Draft Strata Schemes Development Regulation 2016 and Draft Strata Schemes Management Regulation 2016 raises concerns with provisions that will impact negatively on residents in strata schemes across NSW.
