RSVP: The Future of Newtown Tram Sheds

Nestled into the heart of our neighbourhood, between Newtown and Erskineville, the Newtown Tram Sheds could be the perfect site for a buzzing community, cultural, or creative space.

But for years the heritage-listed Sheds have sat unused and in a growing state of disrepair, in spite of community energy to see them transformed into a space we can all enjoy.

Under the current NSW Liberal government it’s only a matter of time before the site is sold to the highest builder - just like so many other significant heritage sites with potential to meet community needs that have instead been flogged off and redeveloped for private interests. That’s why we’ve got to get ahead of the game and build a community-led vision for the future of the site and a grassroots campaign to make it happen.

Join us to share your thoughts, learn about the history of the site, and help shape a community vision for the future of Newtown Tram Sheds - all welcome! Please arrive at 5:30PM for a 5:45PM start.

If you or your organisation have more details about the Tram Sheds, or have been involved in previous local discussions or plans, please don’t hesitate to get in touch via [email protected].

Newtown Neighbourhood Centre is an accessible venue. If you have any specific accessibility requirements, please let us know and our staff will be able to assist.
