Surprising News on Inner City High School

We were surprised to hear about a “Community Consultation” session happening tomorrow morning at Central Train Station in relation to the new Inner City High School planned for Surry Hills.

High_School_consultation.jpgWe were alerted by a concerned parent and have been in touch with Alex Greenwich’s office, who were also not given advance notice of the “consultation”. Understandably, a number of local parents’ groups have expressed their disappointment at the lack of invitation to participate.

Alex Greenwich’s office approached the Department of Education after being alerted to this facebook post and received the following information:

The Department of Education has contracted Root Projects Australia as project managers for the new high school consultation and design. They are holding an information booth at Central Railway Station 8.30-10.30am on Thursday 3 December and monthly sessions at different times in early 2016.

There will be workshops for community input. Details: Kerry Ross on 9251 8040 or [email protected]

It is crucial that the local community is properly consulted about the development plans for the school – and parents that have been actively campaigning for an inner city high school need to be front and centre in this consultation.
