UPDATE: We are no longer hosting this event because we won! COVID safe singles bubbles announced for NSW lockdown! For now what we know is that single people living alone in Greater Sydney will be able to nominate one friend who they can visit and invite into their home. Stay tuned for details as they become available.
While an ‘intimate partner’ can visit during Sydney’s lockdown, under the current health orders single people living alone don’t have the okay to see other adults outside of a daily outside walk.
This means solo folks - including the elderly and people with a disability who may not be able to exercise outside - are totally cut off. Sydney is already in the midst of a serious health crisis, but in-person connections are essential to mental health and banning them comes with a serious public health cost.
We have already written to the Minister for Health, calling for clear provisions in the public health orders to allow for single social bubbles during lockdown, but it's time to step things up and build the pressure on the NSW Government to act.
So what do you say Sydney - shall we dance?
