We're always on the lookout for enthusiastic, committed people who can assist us to best represent the people of Newtown and support our work.
Thanks for your interest!
We regularly need office volunteers who can commit to one half or whole day each week. Those volunteers work across a range of tasks, that may include data entry, media monitoring, design, research, gardening, up-dating websites, assisting with events, updating contact details, mailouts, filing - or whatever else needs to be done that week. Read these FAQs for more information about volunteering in our office. As we're a small organisation, office volunteer opportunities are limited, but we will do our best to get you involved.
If you're a regular user of Facebook and/or Twitter, let us know if you'd like to help us expand our social media reach – there’s no need to come into the office, you can do this work from your own phone or computer.
We also occasionally ask volunteers to help us with door-knocking, street stalls, events and making phone calls to connect with the community on issues that we are working on. Let us know if any of that interests you and we'll be in touch next time we need help with those things.
Note: It’s really important to us that we are upfront about what it means to volunteer in our office. Volunteering for us isn’t a pathway to employment – we are looking for people who voluntarily want to contribute to the work we do in the community and on different projects as the end goal – we are not one of those organisations that expect people to do unpaid labor as “volunteers” or “interns” as an unofficial incentive of possible paid work down the track.
